In this novel, Paula Lpez addresses central issues to understand the problem that indigeneity presents in Mexico City. The author focuses her analysis in Milpa Alta, a place where there is a high density of indigenous population in the city. The main issues to be addressed are alterity and indigeneity, in their relation to politics, economics and social relations, taking as context the consolidation of a modern nation-state, where the homogeneity that it seeks, tends to be confronted with a heterogeneous, multicultural society.
