For the first time, the book offers a general vision of Muñoz's drawings and illustrates the works that are exhibited in the exhibition that will take place soon at the Botín Center. This volume collects the artist's relationship with drawing in the 18th and 19th centuries, especially in Spain. Most of the work comes from institutions and collections in Europe and the United States, as well as from the Estate of Juan Muñoz. The images are accompanied by essays written by the exhibition's curator, Dieter Schwarz, in addition to two other texts signed by James Cahill and Manuela Mena. Juan Muñoz (Spain, 1953-2001) studied art in London and obtained a Fulbright scholarship to study at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York. His most outstanding works are disturbing sculptures of characters who seem to be caught in the middle of an action suspended in time. In his artistic career, the break with the traditional concepts of sculpture through the introduction of narrative elements stands out. Muñoz's work has been exhibited at the Tate Modern in London in one of the most celebrated shows in the English center, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and New York, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, among others. Exhibition: Centro Botín, Santander, Spain (06.25. - 10.16.2022).--Translation provided by cataloger via Google Translate (accessed 10 October 2022).
